About Us

GO PLAY OUTSIDE originated in the outdoors.  From 1978 to 2023, the owners operated Shank's Mare Outfitters.  Their business was passionate about putting folks of all ages in the outdoors.

Paddling the Susquehanna River, Chesapeake Bay, Florida Keys and beyond.  Backpacking and hiking the Appalachian and Mason-Dixon Trails.  Climbing Mt. Rainier and ski mountaineering the Cascades.  Windsurfing the Outer Banks.

Providing quality outdoor gear.  Leading school field trips and guided tours for all skill levels.  Sharing our passion for the outdoors with young and old alike.

These beginnings and lifelong experiences led to the birth of GO PLAY OUTSIDE in 2012.  We feature our trademarked logo on quality hats and clothing.
